Hey, All,

Well, it is good to be home after our cross country jaunt!  I think we put somewhere between 3500 – 4000 miles on ourselves and on our vehicles!  It was a great experience.  The World Show is something we would encourage everyone to attend.  Wonderful people, nice horses, and air conditioned arenas!

Lauren showed one class at the Pre-World Show, Youth Trail, as Kizzi seemed pretty tired after the long trip.   They placed 4th in that class.  At the World Show, they placed under several judges in their classes and took a few overall placings.  In Youth Hunter Hack they placed 4th overall; placing 2nd, 3rd, & 4th under 3 judges.  In Youth Trail they placed 9th overall; placing 6th under 2 judges, 7th, and 8th.  In Youth Hunter Under Saddle they placed 10th under 2 judges.  In Youth Hunt Seat Equitation they placed 2nd.  In Youth Showmanship they placed 3rd.  And in the Senior Hunter Under Saddle they placed 8th, 9th, & 10th.  Well done!

Next came the Youth Representative Contest.  This was a lot of fun for the kids, and required much time and effort from them.  Lauren placed 1st in the written test portion of the contest.  She also placed 1st in the interview with the ABRA Board members.  She placed 3rd in the freestyle horsemanship contest. (Kizzi was NOT fond of wearing her lion’s mane out in public! J  )  She placed second in the fund raising contest.  She had 2 mandatory and 2 elective riding classes that counted for points.  She also was required to hand out awards for several classes, assist with the live auction, participate with the youth scavenger hunt and other youth activities, and sing at the karaoke night festivities!   All of these were carried out with much zeal, and laughter!  As a result of her hard work, Lauren was chosen to be the National Youth Representative for the American Buckskin Registry Association for the 2007-2008 year.  Congratulations, Lauren!  We are so proud of you!!

Lauren will not only be promoting our Old Dominion Buckskin Association throughout the year, but will also be promoting the ABRA, and the 2008 World Show.  Hope to see you all there next year!

Look forward to seeing everyone next weekend at the ODBA fundraiser show!
